MANILA – The Department of Finance (DOF) has exempted businesses located in Philippine Export Zone Authority (PEZA) special economic zones from registering as importers with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
The DOF said locators that are accredited by PEZA may secure import permits from the Bureau of Customs (BOC) without passing the BIR review.
“All locators of PEZA special economic zones throughout the Philippines, duly registered with PEZA are exempted from the requirements and shall be eligible for accreditation as importers with the Bureau of Customs account management office,” Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima said in revenue memorandum circular 04-2015.
